Welcome to The Lion at Ickleton

A Community Owned Freehouse

Welcome to The Lion!

A community-owned freehouse on the Cambridgeshire–Essex border, serving delicious food, proper pints, and a warm, friendly atmosphere.

Set on the ancient Icknield Way and National Cycle Route 11, we’re the perfect stop for walkers, cyclists, and travellers. Settle into our beautiful garden, enjoy a game on the pétanque pitch, and bring your four-legged friends along too – dogs on leads are always welcome.

Our bar celebrates great beer, with a regularly changing selection and a real love for local breweries. We love championing what’s brewed nearby – is there a beer you’d like to see on our taps? Let us know.

Come and visit us – we’d love to welcome you in!

We are sorry that our kitchen will be closed from 22nd April for a short time.

But you won’t go hungry!

We’ve got a great range of visiting food trucks as part of our Food Truck Festival.

Plus the Lion Cafe, a range of simple food options and some fantastic events coming up.
