Welcome to The Lion at Ickleton
A Community Owned Freehouse
Welcome to The Lion!
Saved by the community and reopened in summer 2025, The Lion is a community-owned freehouse at the heart of village life on the Cambridgeshire–Essex border.
Whether you’re joining us for a meal by the roaring fire in winter, a drink in our beautiful garden in summer, or simply stopping by, you’ll find a warm and friendly welcome waiting for you.
Set on the ancient Icknield Way and National Cycle Route 11, we’re the perfect stop for walkers and cyclists, with cycle racks conveniently located by the garden.
Families, dogs and muddy boots are very welcome.
We have a regularly changing selection of guest ales and love championing what’s brewed nearby. Is there a beer you’d like to see on our taps? Let us know.
Come and visit us – we’d love to welcome you in!
Now open Monday and Tuesday evenings 4.00 – 10.30pm
with visiting food trucks most weeks from 5-8pm.
Next Tuesday June 23rd Nic will be serving up her Bar Snacks!
See who else we’ve got lined up!
