Welcome to The Lion at Ickleton
A Community Owned Freehouse
Welcome to The Lion!
The Lion at Ickleton is a community owned pub at the heart of village life.
Proudly reopened in 2025, we offer great food, well-kept ales and a warm welcome to everyone who walks through our doors.
You’ll find us nestled on the Cambridgeshire–Essex border, where we’re perfectly placed for visitors to the nearby Wellcome Genome Campus, the Imperial War Museum at Duxford, Audley End House and the charming market town of Saffron Walden.
Close to the ancient Icknield Way and right on National Cycle Route 11, we’re also a favourite stop for walkers, cyclists and anyone looking to pause and recharge. Cycle racks are conveniently located by the garden, and muddy boots are always welcome.
Whether you’re settling in beside a crackling fire on a winter’s evening, enjoying a pint in our sunny garden, gathering with friends and family over a meal, or simply dropping in for a quick drink, you’ll find a relaxed atmosphere and a genuinely friendly welcome.
We’re passionate about supporting local breweries and regularly feature a changing selection of guest ales alongside our permanent favourites.
Got a beer you’d like to see on the bar? We’d love to hear your suggestions.
Now open Monday and Tuesday evenings 4.00 – 10.30pm
with visiting food trucks most weeks from 5-8pm.
Up next on June 30th – Papas Locas Ultra Loaded Fries
See who else we’ve got lined up!
