Our people are at the heart of everything we do. From the warm welcome you receive at the bar to the quality of the food on your plate, it is our hardworking, talented and close-knit staff who help create the experience our customers remember. We are committed to investing in our people through training, development opportunities, apprenticeships and professional qualifications, helping everyone reach their full potential.
Leading the team is our General Manager, Nicola Truscott, who joined The Lion because she believes pubs are about far more than serving food and drink. For Nicola, pubs are places where people meet, celebrate, support one another and feel part of something bigger. She is passionate about ensuring The Lion remains a welcoming village pub with excellent food, great beer and a strong community spirit, while continuing to evolve through listening to customers and embracing new ideas.
Our kitchen is led by Head Chef David Webb, a highly respected chef with more than 20 years’ experience leading successful pub kitchens across the region. David is passionate about seasonal cooking, local produce and creating memorable dining experiences. His creative approach, commitment to quality and dedication to mentoring and developing his team help ensure every dish reflects the high standards we strive for at The Lion.

As a community-owned pub, The Lion is supported not only by its staff but also by an incredible team of volunteers. There are many ways to get involved, whether helping in the garden team, supporting our community café, lending a hand behind the bar during busy periods, serving on the management committee, or helping to organise and run events. Volunteering is a fantastic way to meet new people, learn new skills, build confidence and make a real difference to village life. Many of our volunteers tell us they get just as much out of being involved as they put in, through the friendships, sense of purpose and pride that come from helping a much-loved community asset thrive.
